Muskrat's Den BBS - a little history

OK, this wasn't ACE-HI, but I did run the ACE-HI BBS on the same
system for a while... anyway, this is a short history. Muskrat's Den
BBS was a general BBS with emphasis on gaming and Internet
Communications. The system was family rated.

The dial-up BBS ran on Wildcat! 4.20 BBS software until it was closed
at the end of May 2002. Muskrat's Den was begun in May 1987, so it
lasted 15 years, a lot longer than most BBS's.

In 1987 the BBS ran on a 64k RAM Atari 800XL computer, it was upgraded
to a 1 meg RAM Atari 1040ST and later moved to an IBM clone with 8
megs of RAM. At our height, we had two dial-in lines and hundreds of
active users.

In its lifetime, there were more than 7 system upgrades. Muskrat's Den
BBS dial-up received over 125,000 calls in its lifetime. We offered
free mailing lists to users as well as normal email while still a dial-
up.

The main number for Muskrat's Den was 808-261-2184. That number has
been disconnected for years, and may now have been reassigned to a new
telephone subscriber, so don't try to call it.
