How to enable emmet for xml mode?

to Ajax.org Cloud9 Editor (Ace)

I would like to enable emmet for the xml editing mode. I get it to work as shown in https://github.com/ajaxorg/ace/blob/master/demo/emmet.html for html editing but it doesn't work for the xml mode. Is there any configuration setting to enable emmet for xml as well?
