DEar All,
The discussions so far had been quite educative as they are interesting.  In the first week  I raised the issue of general awareness of OER in African universities. It is worth noting how many other participants had also mentioned this.  I think this forum is one of such avenues for making universities in Africa aware of the existence, usability and potential advantages of OER.  Omo wants colleagues in the medical profession and medical practitioners to imbibe the concept and practice of PER and to use this.  Akinjimi called attention to his own personal solo effort so far in the arae of Architecture.  One would like to hear from other professionals like Nursing, Law, Pharmacy, Engineering etc.  Is anything happening yet in Africa vis-a-vis OER and these professionals.  It is amazing the speed at which tele-medicine is moving in other parts of the world.  I am not in medicine but what are medical professionals and pratiners in Africa saying or thinikng or doing in this regard?  One of the workshops for this conference also focuses on OER and public Health. It comes up between 9 am to 4pm on July 8. We had invited all Teaching Hospitals in Nigeria, all medical associations and medical groups, NGOs etc to this one half day workshop Attendance is free .  This is one little way in which NOUN, through ACDE  is beginning to promote the adoption of OER generally  and in particular in the professions. You are invited. The People_uni will be running the workshop just as OER-Africa will be running one for about two and a half hours,  again to widen awareness. For those interested in instructional design in OER, Professor Panda of IGNOU  qwill be running a workshop same day.

Dear All,

I am health economist from the University of Birmingham UK but
presently working with USAID in Nigeria. I am greatly impressed with
what Professor Babatunde explained because from my own perspective as
a course developer with People_Uni and as a health economics lecturer
from the University of Nigeria Enugu Campus, I think it would go a
long way in the development of not just the educational system in
Nigeria and Africa in general, but also the health sector as a whole
in terms of brain drain reduction and increase in the number of
educated health professionals. Thus, all major stake holders within
this sector should embrace such a great opportunity and lets all come
together to make it work.

Thanks
