1.There shall be a team composed of three members. The members should be current students of the University of the Philippines but not necessarily a resident in any UP dormitory. However, each corridor in Ilang-Ilang is required to send at least two teams. Penalty awaits corridors who wouldn't comply in this rule.
2. ILANG-ILANG ACADEMIC COMMITTEE MEMBERS AND ILANG-ILANG EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO JOIN. However, other council members are welcome to join.
3.It is to the discretion of the contestants to strategize regarding their members. They could gather three persons from different year levels or three persons of similar year levels. The group could also be composed of all-male, all-female, or mixed contestants.
4.Each team shall present their UP I.D.s at the registration booth, pay Php 75.00 as registration fee and assign or choose a name for their respective teams.
5.Each team should be able to bring one cellphone WITH AMPLE LOAD AND BATTERY FOR CALLING and be present at the lobby by 6 PM; otherwise, disqualification shall take effect. However, loading stations would be available near the registration booth for the contestants. Contestants are also advised to bring more than one cellphone just in case something happens (eg. Empty battery).
Game Mechanics:
1.Upon registration, the group shall receive the cell number of the Academic Committee representative that they would call. They should save this on the cell phone that they are going to use for the game. This would be the number that they would call for answering the questions. They are also advised to give the number a miss call just to see if it works.
2.The game will consist of FIVE categories.
3.Each category will consist of 6 questions of varying amounts/levels. The higher the amount, the more challenging the question. (E.g. 1,000: most difficult while 20: easiest)
4.The first category and first question shall be picked out by the emcees (suggestion: or by one of the judges [to ensure transparency]). The question shall be read twice. Whichever team answers correctly shall have the privilege of choosing the next category and the next question. The cycle continues. BUT, in the event where no team was able to answer or a team answered incorrectly, the previous team who chose the recently unanswered question shall then pick another category and question. Wait for the "GO" before you answer.
5.In answering, the groups would call the number given to them before the game using only their registered phone and whichever team calls and reaches the number first shall be the team that gets the chance to say their answer. If ever clarifications are needed, the emcees or judges may request the contestants to spell out their answer or whatever deemed necessary.
6.In the instance that the registered cell phone of the contestants loses its battery power, the group may transfer the SIM card to another phone or use another number before someone chooses the next category. The group must call the attention of the emcees for the marshals to approach them as soon as possible.
7.Time constraint for each question shall be in increments of 5. That is, the lowest level shall be allotted 5 secs to be answered. Next will be 10 secs, 15 secs, 20 secs, 25 secs and last, 30 secs.
8.In the event that the group which was able to connect first is not able to answer or answered incorrectly, other teams shall be given one more chance to steal using the same procedure of calling the number. (The first team who answered incorrectly is not allowed to call again for stealing)
9.Scoring shall be done in such a way that if you were not able to answer the question or answered incorrectly, the amount entitled to the chosen question shall be deducted from your score. Hence, there may be negative or utang scores.
10.The game shall continue until all the questions have been answered, and, like the usual, the team with the highest score wins! But, in case of a tie, there will be a tie breaker question.
11.For any other inevitable circumstances, the Academic Committee Head, Assistant head and the judges shall have the prudence to decide.
