Reading material for Week 1 & 2 : Anesthesia & Analgesia

Ok, here is the reading list for Anesthesia & Analgesia. Some of these
are books that we have in the library at ACCES, some may be ones that
specific people have their own copies of, some of these are from past
issues of the Vet Tech magazine, some we may not have direct acces to.
It is not imperative that everything on these lists be read, this is
just an example of some good source material if you want to expand
your knowledge in these areas. Please note: do not take any books from
ACCES home unless you get express permission from Beth or Jean to do
so. The books at ACCES are for the vets there to reference as needed
for their patients and it is important that they have acces to them at

published by Saunders. Chapter on Pain Assessment and Treatment,
Chapter on Anesthesia.
Small Animal Anesthesia – The Increased Risk Patient, By P. Bedford,
published by Bailliere Tindall Limited. This is a small compact text
that breaks down anesthetic protocols chapter by chapter based on
primary conditions.
Lumb and Jones Veterinary Anesthesia, by John Thurmon, William
Tranquilli, G. John Benson, published by Lippincott, Williams &
Wilkins. Large, thorough veterinary textbook.
Essentials of Small Animal Anesthesia & Analgesia, by John Thurmon,
William Tranquilli, G. John Benson, published by Lippincott, Williams
& Wilkins. Smaller, more user-friendly text by same authors as
previous text.
Manual of Canine and Feline Emergency and Critical Care, by Leslie
King and Richard Hammond, published by British Small Animal Veterinary
Association. Chapter on Anesthesia and Analgesia for the Critical
Patient.
Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Medicine, by Robert Murtaugh
