to ACCES Study Group
Hi everyone! I am so excited that so many people are showing such
interest injoining this little study group. The purpose behind forming
this groupis primarily for Linda and I to study for our VECCS exam in
September2011. A very large amount of information needs to be covered
in ashort amount of time so we will really be packing it in!

I have created a syllabus breaking down which areas we will becovering
each week. It will be important for us to stick to this schedule in
order to get all the areas in before September! The way I plan to
approach this study group is very similar to teaching a class and I
will be utilizing the Google group site much like an online classroom
blackboard. Of course, everyone can participate as much or as little
as they would like as there are no grades! :D

The week before each "class" I will post more details about the
weeklytopic as well as various books and chapters in books where
goodreading material can be found on the topic. At the beginning of
each group meeting I will give out a short quiz toget us started. We
will use the quiz questions and answers as adiscussion outline for the
weekly topic. Each week will be rounded out by talking through a
couple of cases that pertain to that specific area of study. For
example, on Cardiology week we might discuss a pericardial effusion
case: what to look for on triage, diagnostics and their meaning,
common therapies, nursing considerations, potential complications,
etc. The quizzes and an abridged notes of the discussion from the
classmeeting will then be posted on here for those who are not able
toattend the group meeting.

I also hope that this space can be an interactive one, with anyone who
wishes to do so posting questions or specific cases from the clinic
that they would like to discuss further. Anyone can answer and
participate in these discussions! Please make sure to respect client/
patient privacy issues when posting cases online.

Thanks everyone and if you have any questions, please email me at:
lr1...@hotmail.com or you can call or text me at: (253) 970-6155
