Hi,

I just recently found out about the virtual dj accessibility app, and i think it's cool, ginve that i want to exparament with dj stuff. I have a few questions though. My first, is how well does th virtual dj speech software work with hardware controllers? I'd like to get something like a Newmark party mix so I can have tactile contorl over things, and was wonder how it might work particularly with that. How much of the controller input workflow will speak, if any at all? IN a similar note, is there a tutorial anywhere on how to get the controller to work with the accessibiliity software running? I understand that the connection between virtual dj and the speech program is handled through loop midi, since that's what i installed. I'm using windows 11, with the latest virtual dj and latest accessibility program.
Thanks in advance.
Best regards,

Hello, what touchscreen controllers are you referring to? First, please watch the video below, ignoring the keyboard description and remembering that this recording was created many updates ago. You'll hear how many parameters and information Mallmuzik can provide. Then, take the time to read the threads in this discussion group; I think you'll find many answers to your questions. The page describing keyboard shortcuts is also a useful resource. There, you'll find toggles for reading out many elements that can be spoken during controller movements. First, I must explain that this overlay doesn't work like touchscreen smartphones; that's not the way to go. The overlay is a virtual display for the controller, which converts text messages into voice messages instead of displaying them, thus helping you operate the VDJ program using a keyboard or hardware controller. Of course, I don't know your level of expertise in mixing, or what your familiarity with mixing software entails, but I can assure you that thanks to Mallmuzik, you can set everything up in VDJ and hear a lot of the information you need while mixing. Best regards, and have fun! Zenek

Hi,

I didn't mean a controller with a touch display. I'd just like to use virtual dj with a basic dj controller, such as the Numark Partymix2. I already have some experience with the keyboard input of the mallmuzik scripts, but I've always found it more fun to dj with a controller, seeing as I've tested different dj equipment occasionally over the last 10 years or so.

This controller should work without any issues. Just plug it in and play along.
Now that you're experienced with keyboard playing, you could try the English language file with abbreviated sentences in the future. Paste this file into the VirtualDJ installation folder (in documents/virtualdj for older versions, in appdata for newer versions), then launch Mallmuzik and VDJ. To revert to the original full language, simply delete this file and launch Mallmuzik again.
