I am having problems using during ndk-build,
it throws an error like this:

______ Building Native (/cygdrive/c/_me/android/android-ndk-r8/ndk-build).....:
Cygwin         : Generating dependency file converter script
Compile++ thumb  : DeflatingDecompressor-v2 <= DeflatingDecompressor.cpp
Prebuilt       : libstlport_static.a <= <NDK>/sources/cxx-stl/stlport/libs/armeabi/
SharedLibrary  : libDeflatingDecompressor-v2.so
C:/_me/android/android-ndk-r8/toolchains/arm-linux-androideabi-4.4.3/prebuilt/windows/bin/../lib/gcc/arm-linux-androideabi/4.4.3/../../../../arm-linux-androideabi/bin/ld.exe: ./obj/local/armeabi/libstlport_static.a: No such file: Permission denied
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
/cygdrive/c/_me/android/android-ndk-r8/build/core/build-binary.mk:369: recipe for target `obj/local/armeabi/libDeflatingDecompressor-v2.so' failed
make: *** [obj/local/armeabi/libDeflatingDecompressor-v2.so] Error 1

this can be modified by converting ndk-build to ndk-build.cmd

but now when i run ndk-build.cmd from cygwin it throws errors like "#!" is not a command

I was there on the irc channel for a while but with no reply... please reply as soon as it is possible.

Hi Ankit

You can get over this error by changing the permission for this folder/file to "Full Control " by going to the properties dialog of the file.
This is because the ndk build doens't have permission to perform the task

Thank you Thushan for your reply. But I tried that, even tried running the cygwin as an administrator, but the error remains.

Hi Ankit,

That's not what I meant. you should go to this folder the error message complaining about. And you'll find libsport_static_a file there. Right click on it and go to properties. On the security tab, you should change the permission to Full Control --> for everyone.
Then it'll work. :)

Then when you run ndk build it'll give the same error for a different  file. Do the same for that file too. Then you'll get a successful ndk build :)

Hope this helps

Thanks a lot Thushan, it worked like a charm. But, I think the HowToBuild should be updated with this information, to make it easy for other coders to contribute to Benetech afterwards.

H|i All,
i am trying to compile fbreaderj based on the documentation, but stopped at the "ant release/or ant debug" step, the error msg says:

"Native libraries are not up-to-date. Please run ndk-build manually."

the ndk-build went thru with no errors, but the ant doesn't.

please advise ?
