For those of you that are interested in the Martus project, here is a quick overview of the project.

Martus is Java software (client and server) that has been in use for over 10 years. This particular project focuses only the client application (written in Java swing) and pertains to transforming the existing proprietary internationalization/localization framework into a framework using the more standard Portable Object (PO) files.

Martus is used in many countries, https://www.martus.org/concept/community.shtml , and we would like to be able to quickly provide support for new languages and quickly add translations for new features in existing languages. You can read more about Martus at https://www.martus.org/index.shtml . For those of you interesting in furthering the cause of human rights, I strongly suggest considering the Martus project.

Hi, Rom!
Could you pass me a link to the code? I cant find it in the git repository.

And where should i start? I found a developers documentation at fbreader.org. Can you give me some hints? It will be great to chat through IRC or something.

Thanks

Hi Rom,

I am interested in contributing to the project- Martus standard translation file support. I have sufficient experience working with Java and Swing. It would be great if you can tell something more about the project.

Thanks,
Lalit

Hi Rom,

I was just recommended to apply here by Asheesh from Openhatch; I only have one year of Java classes under my belt so far, but I have a free summer, am willing to learn anything, and am very interested in the cause of human rights! The standard translation file support for Martus sounds very appealing to me. Do you have any room on your team?

Hi Rom,
I just have a few doubts regarding the martus project. As Martus currently uses .mft and in some cases .txt file formats for UI strings and the project requires to shift the file formats to standard file Format. Is there any specific file format they are looking forward to like ".pot" or some other which are the most popular formats for i18n and L10n.

The idea page indicates that Martus wants to use Transifex for translation(L10n). I am little bit familiar with the platform. What in particular should I write about it in my project proposal.

Thanks,
Vinit
