CALIFORNIA - CODE RED ACTION ALERT

SAVE CARNEGIE SVRA - OPPOSE SENATE BILL 1316
ASAP - SEND FAX LETTERS TO YOUR LOCAL STATE REPRESENTATIVE TODAY!!!

Dear OHV Enthusiasts,

The anti-OHV activists at "Save Tesla Park" are back at it again in 2018. This year they have cajoled
State Senator Steve Glazer to introduce Senate Bill 1316 that would authorize State Park officials to sell off (at below market value) the Alameda-Tesla Expansion Area.

Senate Bill 1316 is legislation based on a 10-year disinformation campaign championed by a local land owner (who agreed to the project in a 1995 agreement with State Parks) and a small band of allies with a false narrative of an imaginary "Tesla Park" that has never existed except in their minds.

Senate Bill 1316 would deny the OHV stakeholder community rightful access to the acquisition property and would set an ill-advised and dangerous precedent for future political campaigns against other units of the California State Park System.

Here are some key points to make about the acquisition property in your FAXED letter to local state legislators. *If you are unable to send a FAX, please send an email copy of your letter to Don Amador at
br...@sharetrails.org  and I will see that it gets to the appropriate legislator.

  •  Ask them to OPPOSE Senate Bill 1316

  •  The acquisition was purchased with legislatively appropriated OHV Trust Funds

  •  Legislative action (California Public Resources Code, Section 5006.48) authorized State Parks to plan, acquire, and develop the site for OHV use.

  •  From 1996 to 1998, State Parks used legislatively appropriated OHV Trust Funds to acquire an additional 3,100 acres of neighboring lands to provide expanded OHV recreation opportunities.

  •  The additional acreage was classified as SVRA lands and added to Carnegie SVRA.

  •  This plan will help meet the regional demand for managed OHV recreation that includes dirt-bikes, ATVs, SxSs, 4WDs, and SUVs.

  •  SB 1316 would set an ill-advised and dangerous precedent for future political campaigns waged against other units of the California State Park System.
