Is it possible to use teensy 4.0 control 36 stepper motor. I try to use MCP23S17 to Expansion I/O pin but pulse output not enough (I need to control at least 10000 pulse per sec)  . any suggestion ? thank you :)

If using a teensy micro controller I would use Teensy Step instead of accelstepper.

if using the 4.0 sadly teensy step, it currently doesnt run on the teensy 4.0 because of interupt problems, your better to use the 3.6 or lower.
if not you can continue to use accel stepper and interupts to run more stepper using IntervalTimer myTimer; or elapsedMillis & elapsedMicros.
your better of using a stepper driver that has a uart chainable solution so you can just add and add more motors.

if you want 36 stepper thats either 36*2 for dir and step control is 72 pins needed.
if there controlled via uart its just 2 pins.
this driver has a chainable solution althought you need to create you own pcb or find someone who has done it already and copy it as you cannot buy a prebuilt proto board with these chips.
you can find them for sale on farnell but they are modded to accept spi not uart.
