Hello, new user here. I was wondering if anyone here has ever used to the requests feature to create RFI's from the client or collaborators. I have not dug into the custom fields yet. I was hoping to be able to have them upload a screenshot of a floor plan and enter questions that they or a vendor may have, so that their is record that questions have been addressed.

Michael,

From my experience, the request feature in Accelo is an inbound feature. Meaning is not customer facing and is kind of like an inbox for customer requests. That said, I would imagine you could create a form and have your customer fill it out and click submit and that infirmation plus any attachments could be sent to the address you have setup as your request email. But from the I believe it will take manual processing to distribute the information where it needs to go.

I use requests a lot, and here is how:

I have several Google groups created with aliases that have the email address info@, support@comma etc. even sales@.

The address that I have set up for each of my request channels, is the email address that is a member of that Google group.

This way, I don't lose any emails, and can even go back if one was deleted. I originally was a member of each one of these groups, but they became too much traffic with the emails coming in and with Accelo.

Now, when I look up at the top right of the interface and select inbox, if any of those groups have forwarded an email to the system, I see which one and how many in that drop down.

I did this for a few reasons, but mostly I wanted a check for spammers and checking the emails themselves automatically before they hit Accelo. In addition, when I further automate those aliases, I can have any number of programs subscribe to the same group, and do their magic without interfering with Accelo.

In the case of the alias support@, a ticket is created automatically for every inbound request. Naturally, for sales@, A sale is created. And the rest have to do with information, automated messages between machines and systems, that kind of thing.

I can't say I know if anybody else is doing it this way, but I haven't found too many flaws in the process. If you are interested, I'll tell you about the problems I had setting this up to be automated, with Google wanting humans to confirm subscriptions. Fun fun!

 Thanks for the responses.
So if we set up a portal for a client, we cannot have a custom request form for them within the portal?

I guess we can at least setup a support email and have them send their questions there. I would just need to figure out how to organize it or possibly trigger some sort of automation. I may have to dig into it a bit.

They can click request, but I'm not sure how much customization you can put into that portion.

Nothing wrong with trying Google forms. Easy enough to have it send an email along, and it creates a spreadsheet for you of all the responses.

The nice thing about Google forms is that you can make them insanely creative, and react differently based on what a submitter fills in, such as taking them down a path of fields to fill in checkboxes matrices etc based on a answer further up. Descripting language is actually quite easy, and there's lots of examples out there, that would then let you do something like submit those values in the form of a form, or any other that you liked including the API directly to create whatever type of thing you're looking to create.

I'm sorry if my answers seem kind of left field, but I don't actually understand what you've got in mind for the end result. Just trying to add something for you to think about.
