Folks,
Can we get a clarification of the duckworth lewis rule being used in ACC. Currently we have the rule as:
13.4. A minimum of 10 overs of a 30-over match must be played by BOTH SIDES for a match to
produce a result (a team getting “All Out” is considered to have played their full allotted overs
(10, 20 or 30 overs). Otherwise the match shall be considered to have been “washed out”.
Note: This rule does not apply to rain affected matches. Rules 13.6 – 13.8 address rain affected
matches.
13.5. A minimum of 7 overs of a 20-over match must be played by BOTH SIDES for a match to
produce a result (a team getting “All Out” is considered to have played their full allotted overs
(10, 20 or 30 overs). Otherwise the match shall be considered to have been “washed out”.
Prior to this, I though that a game would have to be played atleast 60% which would amount to 18 overs for 30 over game and 12 overs for a 20 over match. The way the rules above are written, they comprehend that 10 overs must be played by both sides, which means if 10 overs were played in innings 1 and it rained, the teams would wait for an equivalent of 20 overs (about 1hr 40 mins) before seeing if grounds are ok to play second innings. In case of chicago ground drainage, if rain stops game for over 5 overs, no chance of restart.
If rule stands as it is right now, then all good. If not, we have to edit it.
