Good morning,
We’ve been receiving several questions and concerns about eligibility for the remainder of the 2024 calendar year and what that will look like moving forward. I’d like to take a moment to address these concerns directly on behalf of USA Cycling.
First and foremost, collegiate conference racing is not going away. We understand the challenges faced by riders, event organizers, and club and varsity programs affected by Hurricane Helene. The magnitude of the hurricane’s impact is the reason eligibility for 2024 will look a bit different. Since not all conferences and racers were able to meet the required number of conference races, we’ve adjusted the eligibility guidelines for Nationals as outlined below:
At the time of registration, all participants competing in the USA Cycling Collegiate Mountain Bike National Championships MUST hold a
Collegiate Category A license and a minimum of
Category 2 in the discipline of entry (Endurance, DH, DS).
Each license allows for promotion to higher categories according to specific guidelines. For more details, please refer to
Policy VIII Race Category Upgrading and Downgrading.
We’re excited that Bentonville has stepped up to host Mountain Bike Nationals, and it promises to be an incredible event! Registration and the event schedule will be released within 48 hours.
At the time of registration, all participants competing in the USA Cycling Collegiate Cyclocross National Championships MUST hold a
Collegiate Category A license and a minimum of
Category 3 in the discipline of entry.
Again, each license allows for promotion to higher categories in line with USA Cycling's guidelines. For more details, please refer to
Policy VIII Race Category Upgrading and Downgrading.
You can register for Cyclocross Nationals here: Cyclocross Nationals Registration.
As the collegiate cycling landscape evolves, we remain committed to making improvements and providing positive support. All changes will be communicated well in advance, and our goal is to keep you informed every step of the way.
If you have any questions about eligibility or would like to submit petitions for National Championships, please email vdru...@usacycling.org additionally reach out anytime to our team colle...@usacycling.org.
Best regards,
Your USA Cycling Collegiate Team
