Hello all
I am reaching out to you to provide some information about our SECCC/ACCC dual conference mountain bike championship on the weekend of October 2-3. Please see the attached flyer for race information. The format and timeline is essentially the same as it has been in the past. Please note this is a pre-reg only event, which will be done on BikeReg (link below). No email registration or day-of registration is accepted.
As of right now, our college is NOT allowing fans to attend sporting events on campus. Only athletes and official staff are allowed to take part and be present during the event. We are hopeful this will change by our race weekend, but as with most things right now it is TBD. I felt it important to let you know this was the college policy at this time because we all have family and friends who will want to attend and support their kids. I will inform you the moment I have an update to share on this issue.
We do anticipate some big field sizes, especially for the Men and Women A gunning for nationals afterward. This might exceed the numbers we saw in 2019 when we had over 500 total entries for the weekend. Therefore, we are exploring a more accommodating start to the XC; plus, we will be striving to adjust the STXC course to allow for mid-pack to back of the field riders to race more time before they’re pulled. We hope to get the STXC race lap close to or above the three minute mark, but to do so will mean a lot of grass field sections to allow for passing/chasing. For the DS we would do brackets of 32 in the A field if the numbers dictate it, but for the lower categories we may opt for smaller brackets to help the day run more smoothly. For the DH, plan to shuttle your riders from the bottom back to the top, which is a short drive then ride for the riders.
We are also attempting to do some things on race day to polish things more professionally through our marketing and SID office. We are aiming for a more rewarding podium experience as well as broadcasting portions of the race through our website, much like what all our other sports do for home events. Broadcasting has some logistical hurdles to overcome, but it is on their radar. Our race is the only thing happening on campus that weekend, so there’s no other distractions for us. My goal is full attention can be devoted to our event, and it result in a more exciting and fun experience for the riders. We will also strive to share content (video/pics) with your teams while also connecting our respective SID departments for story use.
The registration link is not yet open, but I will get that completed soon. It will be located here: https://www.bikereg.com/high-country-collegiate-mtb-challenge-seccc--accc-conference-championship
The flyer can also be found and shared from our men and women race schedules here:

Please review the names on this email thread, and if there is another coach or team you believe should receive this, please forward it to them. I have tried to find the contact for MWCCC reps, but was unsuccessful. The ACCC board is on this list, but not all respective team leaders. This is all I have to share right now, but please reach out via email if you have any questions. I will continue to keep you updated with any new developments as they unfold.
