All,
Some of you have expressed concerns about the App State/ Boone-Roubaix event; I've spoken to the promoter, Andrew, and the NC/SC USAC Permit Coordinator (Dean Lyons - an officials and very good friend); Dean has pre-ridden the course and the majority of it is the old App St. RR course; the big difference is the dirt section.
Dean is a racer himself as is Andrew, and both have assured me that the course is very passable - the dirt section is mostly up-hill or flat, and only has one descent in the dirt.
Both told me the same thing concerning the course - the dirt section is either flat or uphill, with only one, easy descent in the dirt; as for wheels; DO NOT think that your CF/Zipps/etc. will work well on the dirt section - use your head and get some basic/cheapo wheels/tires set up for mild off-road events.
All in all, I think that this will be a really fun course, and for those that are concerned about the course, y'all need to remember this - I WILL be out there with you on my motorcycle, sling or not!
Thx,
Kevin
