Dear Aikeo,

Thank you for the prompt response and your advice. This helps us significantly.

Of course, please help promote the conference among your networks. I will forward you a second email which you can use for this purpose. It would be great if you can circulate it among your community of academics and community of PwD interested in higher education matters.

Warm regards,

Leonie

Greeting Leonie and ASEF’s team.

Hope you and our friends stay safe from COVID-19 in SG.

The conference very interesting can I invite my co-worker in university join this meeting?

If we mention about challenging of person with disability during pandemic, I thought access to information also challenging for PWD who are difficulty to access to information such blind or deaf people.

I don’t have much more experience but I’ll join your cession as well as I can sharing some experiences

With best regards

Sent to new email address, too:

Dear Aikeo,

Greetings from the ASEF Education Department team in Singapore. I hope this email finds you and your family well.

I reach out to you on two matters – to update you on an ongoing activity which might be of your interest and to seek your advice.

First, I would like to share with you that we will organise a conference on the occasion of the World Access to Higher Education Day 2020 with the theme “Access and Success of Marginalised Groups in Asian Higher Education” on 17 November 2020. Being an advocate for inclusive and equal access to education, I thought you might be interested in joining the event online. Please find the programme enclosed. It would be great to welcome you as participant. Maybe you are even interested in joining as speaker for the session “Pathways and Opportunities for Non-traditional Students in COVID-19 and Beyond.” Here is a short description of the session:

While current and traditional groups of higher education students are coping rapidly given the shifts in learning design and delivery, technical and vocational students, adult learners, out-of-school youth, and other non-traditional students are gradually realising the impact of the pandemic on their employability and social mobility. As such, there is a need to understand how their reskilling, upskilling, and cross-skilling needs should be jointly addressed by education, industry, and labour market specialists.

Second, I would like to ask you for your kind assistance. Given ASEFEdu’s mission and the theme of the conference, we would like to ensure, of course, that the information about the event as well as the registration site of the WAHED conference is fully accessible, and users with screen readers are able to navigate through it properly. We are still learning to make our communication channels and materials as accessible as possible, but could you please help us and test the registration site via this link: https://worldaccesshe.com/events/world-access-to-higher-education-day-global-conference-series/?

We really would like to get an expert user opinion and advise our colleagues if there is anything that needs to be improved.

Your kind advice would be highly appreciated. I look forward to hearing from you.

With warm regards,

Leonie

PS: As you might know, Oscar has left the ASEFEdu team last year to work with UNICEF in Africa. We will miss him a lot, but the ASEFSU21 spirit has continued in ASEFEdu.
