Good afternoon behaviorists!

I hope you are all having a great start to your week! As I hope you know, TxABA Public Policy group is gearing up for the upcoming legislative session. We will continue our quest to get Medicaid to pay for ABA therapy. I am attaching a handout on the specifics of what we are advocating for. If you are interested in becoming involved, please consider joining the group. There is a small fee that goes towards paying an advocate who is at the Capitol helping with this effort. For more information about the TxABA Public Policy group, please see this webpage: http://www.txaba.org/SIGs/PublicPolicySIG.php

I am organizing visits to local legislator’s offices to let them know of this need. If you are interested in helping us by making a call to your representative or making a visit (you don’t have to go alone), please let me know. Also, we are compiling a list of organizations in support of Medicaid paying for ABA therapy (it’s attached as well). If your company logo is not on here, and you’d like to be added, please send me your company logo and written permission (email works) to add it.

On another note, we are less than a month away from San Antonio’s first ever Autism Conference for parents in Spanish. We will be hosting it on Feb 22 from 830-330 at the Burleson Center for Innovation and Education. Please help us spread the word to our Spanish speaking families. I am attaching updated flyers. I am working on getting remotes sites in Edinberg, Laredo, Del Rio, Eagle Pass, and Corpus Christi so people can go to a location there where they can listen remotely with other families. More details to come next week in case you know of any Spanish speaking families that live in those areas. If you know someone who may be interested in facilitating this process or sponsoring it, let me know as well.

Thanks in advance for helping us advocate for our families and for helping us reach Spanish speaking families!

Sincerely,

Berenice
