Opening for the position of Software Engineer in Schlumberger Research and Engineering in Cairo

The position of Software Engineer requires a person with the following attributes:

 Highly motivated and able to work with your own initiative.

 The ability to work as part of a team. This will require the engineer to work with people from different backgrounds and gather their feedback before developing the application. It may involve interacting with people in other countries and different time zones, which presents its own unique challenge.

 The candidate will be educated to a degree standard (BSc) in Physics, Mathematics or a similar subject with a minimum grade of Very Good or equivalent. Knowledge of signal processing would be an advantage.

 No work experience is required, although some time spent in the computing industry would be advantageous.

 Experience of computer programming would be an advantage. The following languages may be used within this position:

o C++

o Java

o FORTRAN

o C#

o Possibly Python, SQL, Oracle

 As well as the skills mentioned above the engineer will be expected to take part in the following:

o Requirements gathering

o Documentation

o Presentations

o Training co-workers in the use of their application

 The above activities may involve short periods of international travel.

 Candidates should be prepared to specify the status of their Military Service.
