Philosophia of the Academia pro Interlingua:

Our Academy is open to all opinions. We have different tastes and come
from different countries. We vary in education and in professional
careers. If, after studying and debating a subject, our members cannot
agree on a specific question, this disagreement means that either it
is a point of personal taste and debate is irrelevant or that the
question is not yet ripe for a solution and must be postponed until a
better time.

Our members may debate any matter relating to the international
language--its vocabulary, spelling, grammar, etc. But, regardless of
differences of opinion, any discussion must remain, like any other
scientific debate, free but peaceful and elevated and with a spirit of
the greatest tolerance along with reciprocal respect. This principle
should guide several critics who think that the best way to contribute
is by insulting people with different opinions.

In each case it is important for the academy to include not only the
opinions of the majority but also those of a qualified minority.
People who want a language without variations may always follow the
opinion of the majority. Such is the spirit of tolerant reciprocal
respect that has always reigned in the Academy

The academy should limit its discussions to questions about which its
members are in agreement. The best way of arriving at an agreement in
all other cases is to give each member the liberty to experiment with
what he or she finds correct and useful in the development of the
language. In these questions the USE of the language for communicating
is better than unending theoretical discussions. All members who make
new suggestions for improving the language should reinforce them with
practical examples of the language in use.

History of the Academia pro Interlingua:

When the Academia pro Interlingua was originally established, it was
dedicated to the promotion of international auxiliary languages and
was associated in particular with Prof. Giuseppe Peano's Latino sine
flexione (Latin without inflections).

The Academia was the offspring of the Kadem Bevünetik volapüka
(International Academy of Volapük) established at a Volapük congress
in Munich in August, 1887. Under the management of Waldemar
Rosenberger, who became its director in 1892, this group had
transformed Volapük into Idiom Neutral and changed its name in 1898 to
the Akademi Internasional de Lingu Universal.

When the Academia decided to abandon Idiom Neutral and support Latino
sine flexione in 1908, it elected Peano as its director, and the name
of the group was changed to Academia pro Interlingua since Interlingua
was an alternative name for Peano's language.

Today the name "Interlingua" generally refers to a different language
published in 1951 by Prof. Alexander Gode for the International
Auxiliary Language Association. In the United States, the Academia pro
Interlingua in America now promotes this newer Interlingua. The
original Academia pro Interlingua survived until about 1939.

It was revived in 2001, but languished until becoming extinct in 2008.
In that year it was born again and dedicated anew to the original
goals of promoting a unified international language latent in the
modern languages of Europe and would exploit the common Greco-Roman
lexical heritage and also words of any origin that have established
themselves as international through frequency of use in a variety of
languages.

Philosophia del Academia pro Interlingua:

Nostre Academia es libere a omne opinion. Nos ha gustos differente e
veni de differente paises. Nos differe in nostre nivellos de
instruction e in nostre carrieras professional.

augusto, 1887.
su director in 1892, iste gruppos habeva transformate Volapük a in

International Auxiliary Language Association (Association
International pro un Lingua Auxiliar). In le Statos Unite, le Academia
pro Interlingua in America nunc promove iste Interlingua plus nove.
