I just got a phone call yesterday from Jamie Hudson.  His dad, Jimmy Hudson, a long-time active member of Austin's cycling community, passed away Saturday.  Despite being blind from middle-age, Jimmy was an avid tandemist; he organized several cycling trips to France, and he and I have ridden together weekly since 1999.  He was a good man and a good friend.  He will be missed.  Our prayers go out to his wife and his two sons.

His family plans a memorial service in a week or so.  I'll post time and place when I get details.

Thanks, Stanton. I remember Jimmy rode with us frequently.   I'm sorry to hear of his passing.

Stanton,

Could you put together a little background on Jimmy from his previous life and a brief anecdote from your riding times with him. I can add a bit on how he came to ACA and my riding experiences with him. I'd like to do an "In Memoriam" in this issue of the Quarterly.

Fred

When in doubt … ride your bike, or at least write about it.
