THis is a very important meeting on an important issue.  Is anyone from the Cycling community available to speak?  The ACA Board are not able to go, as tonight is the nominations meeting for the 2013 ACA Board of Directors.

If you can go, please email Preston for some talking point tips.

Thanks!

CAMPO will be voting today to allow Hayes to add left turn lanes on Hwy 12 instead of putting in continuous shoulders as in the original project.

I think someone from ACA should be at the meeting to register and speak, to indicate that we object to this treatment from a safety standpoint. A link to the resolution is here:

RM12 is the road that connects Wimberly to Dripping Springs. The meeting is at 6:00 pm and is at the Lady Bird Johnson auditorium at 2405 Robert Dedman Drive on the UT campus.

I can accompany a ride leader to this meeting if you would like, but would not like to be the only one speaking for ACA as I haven't actually ridden on that stretch. I can argue all the good points except the experience of riding it.

I don't think experience riding that stretch of road is key. In fact I myself try NOT to ride RR 12 ever, but I can tell a horror story of some pals who got lost in the dark and rode for miles on a Saturday night. A passing motorist was so concerned for their safety he offered them a ride to their west Austin finishing point (it was a 300 K loop).

A south riding volunteer is really needed since many frequent attendees to this meeting are in Long Beach for the Pro Walk Pro Bike conference and the Alliance for Biking and Walking leadership retreat.

Let Sara know if you can make it and she can provide any talking points needed. You don't have to be a great public speaker just someone who'd prefer to keep some safer space for cyclists on this route.

Thanks!
