The Austin Cycling Association and the American Diabetes Association
co-host this ride to celebrate TOUR IN TRAINING, a year round program to
encourage and inspire you to get fit and have fun on your bike. This
ride is free and open to all. We will ride the 42-mile route option of the gorgeous Velo Vista ACA
ride at a pace of 14-16 mph. We will have a ride leader riding "sweep"
to keep an eye on anyone on the 42 mile route who is going a little
slower than this pace. For those who are not quite ready for the 42 miler, we will have a ~20 mile route available. Additionally, we invite walkers and cyclists who are not quite ready for the open road to come and enjoy the Brushy Creek Regional Trail.
Afterward join us for refreshments courtesy of the ADA (and maybe a splash in the splash pad too)!
Velo Vista usually starts from Vista Ridge High School, but today we will start from Brushy Creek Lake Park to accommodate our post-ride festivities. Please park at the back of the parking lot near the restrooms and water feature.
The park is right on the Brushy Creek Regional Trail, which is ideal for off-road riding if you want to bring friends, family, or children who aren't quite road-ready but would like to join in the cycling fun. There are also a lot of fun playground facilities and a splash pad, so bring the whole family for summer fun.
WHEELS DOWN AT 8 AM SHARP!
COME EARLY FOR FREE BLOOD GLUCOSE TESTING 7:30 - 8:30 AM.
