AUTHOR TO CAMPAIGN FOR GOVERNOR CULVER
Des Moines - Author Mary Jane Checchi will hit the campaign trail in eastern and central Iowa for Governor Chet Culver.
Checchi, wife of former Sen. John Culver and step-mother of Governor Culver, will be talking about her book, The 50+ Dog Owner: Complete Dog Parenting for Baby Boomers and Beyond, at Prairie Lights in Iowa City on Tuesday, September 28, and at Jett & Monkey's Dog Shoppe in Des Moines on Wednesday, September 29.
Checchi, a lawyer, has worked for a number of United States Senators and the for Senate Budget and Judiciary Committees. She served as a top aide to then Senate Majority Leader Robert C. Byrd, as Staff Director and Chief Counsel of the Senate Democratic Policy Committee, and as Executive Director of the Senate Iran-Contra Investigating Committee.
Checchi is the author of two books, The 50+ Dog Owner: Complete Dog Parenting for Baby Boomers and Beyond and Are You the Right Pet for Me? Choosing the Right Pet for Your Family. She and her dog, Tony, are members of PAL (People Animals Love) and participate in visits to a day treatment center for emotionally disturbed children.
The public and members of the media are invited to attend these events.
