Hi, Finn and Anna and anyone else,
I am one of the old Abundance members who really misses the foraging. I am not very good at organising the online stuff but I really enjoy the experience of picking and I know an awful lot about how it works. I still have a couple of the old tarps we used and a foraging bag and some sticks I made up with hooks. I would be keen to see this up and running again.
I don't know where our old juicing gear is - possibly we gave it away.
Kim
I'm also very keen to rekindle something, I'm living in the student housing Coop and most people I speak to sound interested in abundance.
I'm wondering if anyone has a list of tree owners we can harvest from? I've also made some leaflets to give people when scouting for potential harvests.
Good to know you have some equipment Kim.

I'm also interested in getting this back up and running, even if it is just to a fraction of the capacity it used to be! This is an awesome initiative, and better to run with the great work that's already happened than to try and start from scratch all over again. Like you, Anna, I'm interested if ANY of the previous organisers would like to meet up and talk about how we can help rekindle this group. I'm happy to take on responsibilities for this!--

Hi everyone,
I too would be keen to get involved if this started up again. I don't have much in the way of foraging experience but I would be happy to help with the organising and online stuff if that helps

So Kim is an experienced forager, Stephen is savvy with the online lark, Nic is on it with leaflets, and Lucy recalls how it ran and what might have been the pitfalls...looks to me like we have a reasonable team for the rekindling!
I work avg 3 days/wk self-employed, so quite easily self-managed...also committed to samhuinn rehearsals atm, but otherwise not too much else going on for me. So I'd be more than happy helping out doing online organisation and forays, I have experience of both (not with Abundance, though...).
Realistically this group only needs to be active for a couple of months as all the fruit comes rolling in, then we can all go back to whatever we were doing before :D
Nic there will be loads of people @ eshc + extended family as lots of them help out with Disco Soup which is very similar concept. Also I posted about this on FoodSharing fb page and got lots of attention, so maybe more willing hands on deck there...
Looking forward to all ideas,
Finn
Hello everyone. I joined in a few picks with the Edinburgh Abundance Group a couple of years ago. There were a few problems which led to its, I hope temporary, demise:- no-one who had enough time to co-ordinate the pickers and the fruit to be picked- not enough pickers free at short notice- not that many offers of fruit to pickI've copied into this email all the email addresses of people past and present in the hopes that:- those who were part of the group before can pass on any intelligence and contacts- those who have energy to spare resurrect the groupI've a feeling the juicer may have gone to the Cyrenians at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital, or maybe to an allotment group - perhaps someone remembers?I don't think this email will reach Stephen Corcoran (I've a feeling abundance-edi...@googlegroups.com has failed on me before), so if someone knows how to get him a message, please forward this on.----------------------Lucy Richardson

Hi guys.
Ross, Sam and I would be happy to meet up soon to chat over this. We're the remaining organisers who have been responding to emails, etc, and know most of background in terms of organisation (and who were part of the group who agreed that Abundance would go into dormancy).
How about sometime in the next few weeks? I'll create a doodle poll today for anyone who's interested.
Valla
P.S If you haven't posted on the group before, there will be a lag as we have to approve the poster first.

A doodle poll sounds good

Hi Clement.
I'm not sure how it happened, but you only sent your e-mail to a small number of people. Reply to abundance-edi...@googlegroups.com if you want all interested parties to see.
To everyone who has expressed an interest in meeting, I will close the poll this evening.
Valla
Tuesday 4th Oct was most popular option.
Time and location TBC but will be evening and somewhere central.

I can also offer my flat in the student housing coop, by bruntsfield links. There's also a large room in the basement we could meet if lots of people turn up.
Equally the shrub or rose street sound good, and 7pm works well for me.
I think we should have the meeting on the date suggested by the doodle poll rather than asking more people, since our aim is to re start abundance Edinburgh soon rather than make a meeting as accessible as possible. Although, our basement in the coop does have disabled access :p

Jess from Shrub has offered space there on Tuesday 4th. It sounds like we can do anytime from 6-8, perhaps 6.30 would be a good start time rather than 7 so that there's no rush?

They have apparently been sollicited a lot from different groups wanting to use them but have also been too few to handle the logistics lending them etc so they were hopeful that we could get back involved as well and help with that. That was a few months ago but we'll just need to get back in touch with them.
