To get the wheelbase-to-length ratio of a motor home, simply divide the wheelbase by the length of the vehicle. According to RVCG, under 51% is extremely dangerous; 51% to 54% is dangerous under many road condition and not adequate for general safety; 55% to 56% is marginal; 57% and over is usually steady on the road under most conditions. The higher the wheelbase-to-length ratio the safer it gets. (This subject will be coming up again when we discuss the relationship between tag axles and wheelbase.)

This low-profile telescoping trailer should have had its axles placed much farther back. Apparently, the manufacturer wanted to sell it to owners of small vehicles who thought they needed a light hitch weight. The combination of low BOB (back of ball) ratio and light hitch weight is deadly.

Residents of a Soldotna trailer park have settled out of court with their landlord in a confidential settlement after filing a suit late last year, which claimed an illegal eviction and insufficient utilities.

The suit claims the owners, Gary Hinkle and Brian Bishop, failed to provide running water to tenants for several months, and that groundwater contamination at the site affected the safety of water in the park generally. It also claims evicting the residents was illegal, because there is no clear change of use planned for the property that would necessitate an eviction.

Aneliese Palmer, an attorney with Anchorage-based civil rights firm Northern Justice Project, is representing the residents. She said the case is settling, but its confidentiality prevents her from disclosing any of its terms.

Palmer said the tenants in the case are especially vulnerable because of the lack of open trailer spots in the Soldotna area, and said many of the defendants invested heavily in their trailers because they were led to believe they could stay at the property indefinitely.

If you're looking for someone to talk smack about Mark Wahlberg and the movies he makes with Peter Berg, go read another website, because the wrong guy was assigned to this article. I was, quite frankly, appalled by our Slack thread regarding the trailer for their latest collaboration, Spenser Confidential. No one wanted to touch it with a 10-foot pole. I won't name any names because I'm not a rat like that, but shots were fired, and as a longtime fan of the "Berg brothers," as I call them, I did not appreciate it.

That's right... I'm the guy who had Patriots Day and Lone Survivor on his Top 10 lists of their respective years. Deepwater Horizon? Top 25 film of 2016, for sure. When it comes to incredible true stories, these guys can do no wrong in my book. So let me just say that right now, up front. As for Spenser Confidential... it looks like a Netflix movie, and I'm using that term the way it was used three years ago, before Marriage Story and The Irishman and Roma came along. It looks like passable streaming entertainment, at best. Which is fine! There's nothing wrong with that. I like Marky Mark (I'm from Boston so I can call him that) and Marc Maron and Post Malone as much as the next guy! But this "Berg brothers" joint is obviously not based on a true story, because if it was, I'd be tracking down Post's real-life counterpart for an interview right now. But I digress...

Wahlberg's Spenser is inspired by Robert B. Parker's Wonderland, which is a novel by Ace Atkins that uses Parker's famed character. The film is an action-comedy in which Spenser gets out of prison and decides to leave Boston for good. He's an ex-cop better known for making trouble than solving it. But when two of Spenser's former colleagues turn up murdered, he recruits a no-nonsense fighter named Hawk (Winston Duke) and his foul-mouthed ex-girlfriend Cissy (Iliza Shlesinger) to help him investigate and bring the culprits to justice. The movie also stars Alan Arkin as Spenser's old boxing coach, and Bokeem Woodbine.

Listen, Wahlberg and Duke look like a fun pairing. One's the charming wise-ass, the other is a hulking force of nature. You've got Shlesinger just running wild, Arkin taking the brunt of the 'old guy' jokes, and the ray of sunshine that is Maron, plus Brian Helgeland co-wrote the script, which typically bodes well. Oh, and Post Malone is going by his real name of Austin Post here, so put some respect on his name!

Spenser Confidential hits Netflix on March 6. I can't wait for it to be their most-watched movie of the year... next to Adam Sandler's Hubie Halloween, of course. For more on that film, click here.

"You made me miss my Yankees game!" Lionsgate has released an official trailer for an action crime thriller titled Confidential Informant, another of these B-movie schlock fests being dropped on VOD right away. This doesn't look like it's any different or any better either. A police detective suffering from cancer makes a deal with an informant to get killed in the line of duty, so his family can receive the hefty death benefits from the department. This then causes all the partners to come under the scrutiny of a suspicious internal affairs agent, resulting in even more problems for everyone involved. The film stars Dominic Purcell, Mel Gibson, Nick Stahl, and Kate Bosworth. This may be "inspired by actual events" but it looks absolutely boring and campy, not even worth a $1.99 Redbox rental price. Skip it and move along, nothing to see here.

This gritty crime thriller starring Mel Gibson tells the tale of two narcotics agents hunting for a cop killer during a crack epidemic. Hoping for leads, Moran (Dominic Purcell, "Prison Break") and Thorton (Nick Stahl, Sin City) pay off a junkie informant. To provide for his wife (Kate Bosworth, Superman Returns) and son, Moran involves the stool pigeon in a deadly scheme. This causes the partners to come under the scrutiny of a suspicious internal affairs agent, leading up to an explosive finale... Confidential Informant, formerly known as just Informant, is directed by South African filmmaker Michael Oblowitz, director of many films including The Breed, On the Borderline, The Foreigner, The Traveler, The Ganzfeld Haunting, and Frank and Ava most recently, plus other music videos and docs. The screenplay is written by Michael Kaycheck, Brooke Nasser, Michael Oblowitz. Lionsgate will debut Oblowitz's Confidential Informant movie in select US theaters on June 30th, 2023, plus on VOD starting June 27th this summer. Look any good?

Director Peter Berg and actor Mark Wahlberg complete each other, and they are taking their longtime partnership to Netflix with Spenser Confidential. The action comedy reunites the Lone Survivor, Deepwater Horizon, Patriots Day, and Mile 22 team. It also looks pretty funny. And, as Berg already noted fondly, Wahlberg's character Spenser gets his butt kicked A LOT in this movie, which arrives on Netflix in March.

Netflix's official trailer for Spenser Confidential just debuted on the Ellen show, so Ellen DeGeneres got to be the one to share it first. After that, Netflix released the trailer to the world. Check it out:

As Deadline noted in 2018, Netflix made a deal with Mark Wahlberg, Peter Berg, and the estate of Robert B. Parker to potentially base a series of films around wisecracking but poetry-spouting boxer-turned-private-eye Spenser. I imagine more movies will be considered if this one gets a lot of streams.

Mark Wahlberg, now 48, always has a lot of irons in the fire as an actor or producer. This year, he also has the drama Good Joe Bell (he plays Joe Bell) and the Antoine Fuqua sci-fi movie Infinite. He's also doing a voice for Scoob! And I'm pretty excited to see the McMillons documentary series he produced for HBO, which premieres February 3.

The 76th Cannes Film Festival is on in France right now, with the Cannes market in full swing, as films get scooped up by studios for release, and movies in competition hope to set themselves up for award season come fall 2023. But while the A-listers are walking the seashore, the red carpet, and the occasional product placement set up, the rest of us are at home, living our usual lives far away from the southern coast of France. Acorn TV promises to fix that for us with Cannes Confidential, a new detective series premiering in June 2023, and the first trailer looks divine.

Camille Delamarre (Into The Night) directed all six episodes, which promises the two worlds of Cannes, and "two versions of reality will collide and be reflected in the personalities of the two main characters, Camille and Harry." It should be noted, though, that AMC Networks held Cannes Confidential's world premiere among the Yacht-and-A-list crowd at the 6th annual CANNESERIES festival.
