a little bit underneath the middle of this page (http://abstractspoon.com/wiki/doku.php?id=completed-tasks), there it says:
"You may wish to see the Completed Date but not the Completed time. See Hide 'Due Time', 'Start Time', 'Completed Time' fields."

The link "links" to an non-existing page, though. Is it possible to hide the "completed time' field?

What I really want, though, is to set a task as completed without assigning a completed time to it. Is this possible?

No. Your only option is to modify the completion time afterwards.

Q: Why do you want to remove the completion time completely, given that you can hide it completely?

1) Aha, ok, but when I go through the preferences dialog, it is not possible (see picture). I could not turn it off, but it turns out that it has no bearing on the main issue.

2) Because in calendar view the completed task name bar *with* a completed time ends somewhere "in the middle" of the completed day. This is not pretty. It is also distracting to me.
I don't need to count the time (even if I did that, I might use the time tracker?). So, I really don't know why the completed time is indicated in the calendar view. Thx for asking.

Ah, that makes sense. Let me think about how best we might achieve that.

Found a way, with a UDT:
Path: $(todolist)
Arguments: -cd $(todaysdate)

Using AutoHotKey (ahk) I can also first check if the task is completed or not and thus implement a toggle without setting the time.
