Hello Daniel,

at work a colleague of mine is developing an application, I report bugs and suggestions in a ToDoList file.

When I found a bug I write him a short chat message telling him that there is a bug.
I also tell him the number of the task.

Now my colleague needs to open the search window and select "Task ID equals 1234".
Not very comfortable.

Of cause he can go to the "List View" and sort by "Last Modified".
But the bug report can be the 2nd, 3rd or 4th entry.

Suggestion:
Add a hot key and also a menu entry for "GoTo task number".
This opens a small dialog where I can enter the task number and ToDoList focuses this task.

In Outlook I can use [Ctrl]+[G] in the calendar to go to a specific day.
And if I remember correctly this hot key is also working in some other applications.

This would help us a lot, because we just need to press [Ctrl]+[G], enter the task number and press [Enter].

Greetings

OLLI

Hello Daniel,

please re-open this suggestion!

I had a quick look at this comment (from iamstarbuck) and saw that I have to define a user-defined tool.
Here I have to enter some data, also the path to the ToDoList.exe.

Here I see  big problem:
  • my colleague and I have both to define this user-defined tool (twice the same actions to set up the user-defined tool)
  • if my other colleagues want this feature too, they also have to manually set up the user-defined tool
  • I know at least 3 colleagues that will not perform this, so I have to do it!
Please implement this feature directly in ToDoList.
It is a common feature that is also requested my multiple users.
Thank you!

The dialogue for the UDT has also an „Import“-Button which reads with one click all tools from an INI file. So one person has to define the tool(s), all other have only to import ...

Hello,

the problem here is that the users have TDL installed in different folders.
This is unfortunately really the case...
Some of them are in an other department, so I can not tell them to move it to an other folder.

Hi Olli

It is my intention to make 'ToDoList.exe' tools easier by allowing the file path to be specified as '"$(todolist)"' which would then allow importing to work for distributed teams.

Despite this I will consider adding 'Goto Task' to 7.1 because I can understand that it is useful function.

However, instead of just sending your colleague the task ID, have you considered sending him a proper 'Task Link' (Edit > Copy As > Task Link) that will open the task directly in TDL? For this to work, you will need to enable the 'tdl protocol' in the preferences.

Thank you!
So I will have this feature in the 7.2 stable build (at work I prefer to use stable builds only).
