Hi Dan,
Thanks for your consideration and involvement on this suggestion: it's of course fine for me if you can implement it this way (i.e. for all).
But it's really a "nice to have" feature, so I can live without it if it's not easy and quick to implement.
This said, if you go ahead, I think there is a choice to evaluate (due to the extension of the scope) as follows.
- In my suggestion, it was an impact on a ( 'simple' ) filter box, i.e. one line of text >> the suggested behaviour of the triple click is to select all the text (as there is only one line).
- If this feature is implemented and applied to all text fields (i.e. filter boxes and also comment zone), what will be the behaviour for fields where the text exceeds one line?
Typically, I think that a triple click should triger the current line selection (whatever long the text is) i.e. from the start of the block of text up to the next carriage return / line feed mark (to match with some user known behaviour in well known word processing software).
So, if I have a block of text that is displayed on 3 lines (due to the current window layout / size), a triple click in the middle of the 2nd line should select the 3 lines of the concerned block.
>> See attached images to document my suggestion: image1 = before triple click & image2 = after triple click
Thanks & Regards
Eric
