Hi,
after a sudden (and very short) power shut-off while the saving-process of ToDoList I can't open my list anymore (List contains malformed xml-Code, msxml can't interprete it).
I had this problem sometime ago, but then I was able to reproduce a backup. Strangely it was also a power shut-off while ToDoList was open, which caused the list to break.
Now I don't have an actual backup - because I worked very much in it this morning, so how can I open the list again?

Version is 7.0.13, Windows 7 64 bit

Huge thanks for any hint!

Hi Ko,

Do you know about TDL's autobackup?

...\TDL\7.0.13\backup

Check your TDL install directory and find the "backup" directory. See if a recent backup of our list is there.

Check your preferences under the Tools menu in case you changed that default location at one point.

I hope you'll find a recent enough copy of your corrupted list!

It depends on the level of corruption. If the power outage actually occurred while the file was open on the disk then it's probably not possible to save it.

You can check this by looking at the file size on disk. If it is zero bytes then the tasklist is gone completely. If it has a size then change the extension to .xml and try to load it with IE because IE is good at reporting where XML errors occur.

In addition to Auto SQA's comments, TDL saves another backup during the save process in case the process is interrupted: <tasklist>.bak.tdl, so it's worth seeing if you can find that too.

Thanks for your answers!
Yes, I know autobackup, but it seems I can't control it - the last backup-file which exist is from 07:31. I cannot open it. The version before, from 07:21 is ok. Strange thing is: I worked the last time at appr. 10:30 in the system (also the time of shut-off), but this time isn't marked, neither in the file itself nor in the backup.

All files are still ca. 7MB big, but renaming to .xml isn't successful - IE just shows a blank, white page without error or content

Best wishes! RK
