BUG in Custom Task Attributes - the list is empty in edit tasks

Hello!

I think this problem had been fixed by the program's repair listing, but it still remains in the latest R3 beta that I installed yesterday.
I'm using windows 7.

When you create in Custom Task Attributes, in attribute data (data type Text: Dynamic data or fixed data) and inserts the options in the Default Data. The program can save the data entered in this window, and in the top filter of the program, but unfortunately, when you choose the options created in the definition of the tasks (in the base of the program) there is no data in the listing that you recorded. It is as if the program did not see (my options do not appear in the list) or the program can not read the options in the edit area of the tasks, that is, the list is empty.

Note: My Congratulations on the wonderful program.

Hi FR

Yes, in fixing another problem I managed to break the default item handling. I'll get a fix out hopefully on the weekend.

ps. Thanks for reposting!

Hi Dan again,

As i said before, I am using ToDoList to track my tasks. And i use mostly Kanban View.

7.2RC3 looks really awesome (Indents look cool with related subtasks).

Here are some of my recommendations for RC3;

1) "Populate" button shown below  is not working. When you click on "Populate", lists are not displayed for the selected attribute.

Also, you can give colours to selected attributes with no problem. But, if you try to change colours, the colors shown in the list (given below) are shown incorrectly However if you click "Ok", the selected colours are applied correctly.

2) I prefer not to have "Tick Box" near the tasks in the Kanban View. I wish this was optional in the Kanban View Preferences.  Because "Ctrl+Shift+Space" works for completing the task. In this way, Kanban View looks much more "cleaner".

3) In the burndown menu, the last shown date on the graph should be the day the program is used (today) (as in 7.1.5).

4) Imported and saved worklist are not opened by default for 7.2RC3. Also, the changes in the preferences are not stored. I should change them every time i run the program. In addition, when i run the program, it always asks me preferred display language.

Again, thank you for your all efforts. I really like using ToDoList :)

Edit = Images are fixed.

Bug: TDL does not start if last network connection is not availabe.

Hi Dan,
I am expiriencing problems starting ToDoList if the lastly used network connections are not available.
I order to omit the issue with TDL not starting if the connections needed to load recently used tasklists I set config to not load recently used lists.
Still if my laptop is connected via a different network or has no internet connection at all tdl won't start.

Only if I dial up a VPN and then access the last used folders on the network drive via filemanager to 'activate' the connection shares TDL starts with a blank new tasklist...

Let me know if I can assist tracking down that issue, right know I don't have a clue how which data might be helpfull.

cheers
Mikro

I can't reproduce this using my machines at home so it may be something else.

What specifically are the network connections you are referring to?

If you are using a NAS then it could be that a long timeout value is making TDL appear not to start.

Have you checked in 'Task Manager' that TDL really has not started?

>> 1) "Populate" button shown below  is not working.

Currently it only populates using the values specified in 'Tools > Preferences > Tasks > Defaults > Dynamic Droplists' but I can fix this to populate with the current tasklist's attributes.

>> But, if you try to change colours, the colors shown in the list (given below) are shown incorrectly

It's okay I can reproduce this now.

>> 2) I prefer not to have "Tick Box" near the tasks in the Kanban View

You can only get rid of it using 'Tools > Preferences > User Interface > Tasklist Attributes > Show checkbox beside task title when completion column is hidden'

>> 3) In the burndown menu, the last shown date on the graph should be the day the program is used (today) (as in 7.1.5).

That's not how it works even in 7.1.5. It displays the date range of all incomplete tasks (past and future)...

>> 4) Imported and saved worklist are not opened by default for 7.2RC3.

Make sure you have not installed it in a OS-protected folder such as 'Program Files' or another folder where you do not have write permissions...

Hi Dan,
the connections used are network drives inside the company which usually do not fall in an idle mode.
But if I connect my Laptop to a network socket it happens that the network connections are not activated instantly.
In the explorer they then show up as unconnected with a red cross. This is the same state as when I am working offline and would have to dial up a VPN to gain access to the network drives.

If I have a connection to the company network and select a network drive once the connection is instantly opened and from this moment on ToDoList starts.

I just checked if I can reproduce if I pull the network cable which works.
With network disattached and ToDoList started in the taskmanager I see the ToDoList.exe entry pop up for a second or two then it disappears again, ToDoList remains closed, no Window apears.

Any Ideas?

Can you run TDL from a shortcut with logging please (-g) and then post the results?

You could also try using ProcMon to see what TDL is up to during this short period and then share the 'reports' here.

This might give us a clue as to the event causing TDL to close...

pps. Would it be enough for me to just unplug my desktop machine from the domain at work to create a similar situation or do I need to change my machine configuration as well in some way?

FWIW I've never needed to connect to my work servers from my personal laptop via VPN or otherwise so I'm not well experienced in this area...

Good news: I tried unplugging my network cable at work and that allowed me to reproduce the problem.

And I discovered that the problem lies inside an old Windows code library but I have a fix that I will push out as soon as I can.

Hi Dan,
sorry for being a bit late catching up on this.

I tested the issue with 7.2RC6.

On working network restarting with reopening the previously opened lists works fine, all list come back up no matter where they are saved.
Without Network only the localy available ones come back up.

Clean pass I'd say, thanks for the fix!

Cheers
Mikro
