Hi,

I have been using ToDoList at my work for following up tasks. This application is quite handy and thanks very much.

Recently I noticed the Android App is also available for ToDoList.

When I tried to open the .TDL file in my mobile (the original file was saved from my desktop version of ToDoList), I get a message as "Please try another File chooser. If your cloud storage solution doesn't work, see instructions".

I also noticed that the file structure (.tdl) is different between Android version and the Desktop version.

I request you to please help me out so I can start using TDL from my mobile also.

Thanks and regards
Nagarajan

Welcome Nagarajan.

Unfortunately it seems like the author may have abandoned the Android app.

The problem I believe is that of file encoding: ToDoList uses Unicode and the Android app expects UTF-8.

I do have a plan to move to UTF-8 but not for a while. Until then you will need to convert the file encoding yourself with an appropriate tool (https://docs.moodle.org/31/en/Converting_files_to_UTF-8).

FYI: I tried to contact ajiget a few times via email (I had contact before) and via xda developer forum, with no luck at all.
It looks like the software has been abandoned :(

My current (very basic) read only solution is to use "Automatically export after saving" to export my task list, for example, as txt or html file that I can read on an Android device.

Hope that helps - at least a little bit

You will need to contact the author directly about this.

Hi,
If you contacted me via email, you should have gotten a reply. If you're still having issues, please email me. The app is not abandoned, but not really a high priority either. With the newer Android versions, I have to do some rewrite of my code, and am working on that.

Hi ajiget,

Great to see you back and to hear you're still working on your app.
Indeed I didn't get a reply - also not to my SPAM folder.

Best,
Ryan

Thank you JJ for making me aware of the Android app, and of course ajiget for making it.

I got the same error message. But using a different file chooser - like the app suggested - I was able to open the TDL file anyway.

Have you tried it, JJ? In my case I used SolidExplorer but other file explorers should be displayed in the file picker window and work, too.

Best
