Hi,

I'm just wondering what distro would be best for me to download to my
desktop, burn onto CD and install onto my used Toshiba Portege 7200
(PIII)? I
absolutely, positively have to have a distro that comes bundled w/ the
drivers/programs/whatever to support a Linksys Wireless USB Adapter.

I tried partitioning the Toshiba's drive last week and then
successfully installed Xubuntu but it is bare bones and (I guess)
didn't come w/ any drivers or stuff for wireless. And I didn't know I
was supposed to have the Linksys plugged in and running when I did the
install.

Please help. I'm a total newbie and I want to learn how to work in a
Linux environment but I'm hoping there's a bit more of a plug-n-play
type distro out there for idiots like myself as I haven't really
learned how to get around in a shell and use prompts yets.

Thanks,

-- M.

P.S. Right now I have on CD -- Fedora 6 Core, Xubuntu 6.06 'desktop'
.iso, GParted LiveCD.iso, and a DVD out of 'Linux for Dummies 5th ed.'
circa 2004 that has an older Fedora Core 1 on it plus RPM, KDE & GNOME,

Samba, Apache Web Server & Open Office.

I found that (X)ubuntu 6.06 installs fine and finds the wireless on my
Fujitsu Lifebook (crusoe). BUT 6.10 doesn't (find the wireless). But
now I find that 6.06 doesn't make it easy to get the network shares
working and access to a windows server... which 6.10 does. :(

Catch 22.
