Agreed about extras and how they will be laid out..

Power source, or how to use local sources for power, or
ultra-efficient or ...

More like jumpsuits/coveralls

Dress Uniform: maybe versions harking back to 'traditional'
unifroms, ie Brits in red, Austrians in white, Prussians in
Grey...

Weapons: Plus the sheer drag on the logistics system caused by
all the power sources

I wonder who really designs uniforms for the military, some seem
useful, but some I wonder..

Yes, in TV, they go for effect, or commentary?

I know in several wars, the comement about Colonels and like and
higher was they often was not in touch with reality.

Or, an example was some german tanks in WW1, not exactly fast
machines, capturing a French divisional HQ in WW1.

But yes, most drees unforms are less than functional for real
combat/use. They look pretty, but ..

C.1910, the US Army combat and field uniform was much the same,
but the coat was different, atleast for the uniform for people
in the HQ and like..

Class A - dress uniform, but now days it has become the unform
for command and like level, but not for field use.
Class B - for comfort, with no jacket, but all the rest is the
same, other than often you can use a open necked, short sleeve
shirt instead of the long sleeved shirt with a tie.

What are you *looking* for? What is the nature of the question?

Keep in mind that even firemen and police officers have multiple
uniforms, say nothing of the Military. There are at least two
different uniforms. There is the combat uniform, which is
usually also
the day to day uniform, and then there's the "dress blues"
(which
aren't always blue) or the ceremonial uniform. This is
consistant not
just across the US military, but militaries across the globe.
There is
no reason to think that futuristic militaries would not be the
same
way.

One thing that irritates me about sci fi is all the officers who
show
up for combat scenarios in their dress blues. This is especially
true
of the officers and generals. Science Fiction tv shows and
movies like
to portray the generals as larger than life, so they put them in
their
ceremonial uniforms during battle.

Don't do this. It's cheap.
