Is anyone going to do this ride on the scheduled day? I am considering
it but would be more motivated if someone else were to ride as well.
Start is at 7 AM at the Tim Horton in Cochrane.
I am not well in shape, will most likely need 14 to 15 hours.
There is no brevet card on the website, where can I find one..

Hello Peter:

Good to hear that you are back into riding. Hope all is well. Had to
smile when I read that you are not well in shape. This for from a guy
who successfully fished LEL with a broken rib, and then a few weeks
later successfully finished Die Grosse Bayern Rundfahrt 1267.5 km and
about 46,000 feet of climbing still with that broken rib. :-)

In 2004 I rode the Highwood Classic in 15:25 (did 15 km extra). I
submitted a story to the BC Randonneurs website/ newsletter. It can
accessed on the following address:

http://www.randonneurs.bc.ca/newsletter/submissions_2004/039_highwood-fa
ll-classic_wim-kok.html

While the story itself has a few errors that need to be fixed, the
controls and distances are mentioned in it. You may be able to construct
your own brevet card for opening and closing times, using the RUSA time
calculator(http://www.rusa.org/octime_acp.html). I have provide the info
I had at the time

Open - close my time
Start Husky in Cochrane (km 00) 06:00
06:00
Control # 1: Barrier Lake Visitor Centre (Km 67) 07:58 -
10:28
Control # 2: Fortress Junction (Km 105)
09:05 - 13:00
Highwood Jct (store maybe open) (km 165)
Control # 3: Longview Steakhouse (km 210)
12:12 - 20:00
Control # 4; Black Diamond (km 227)
12:40 - 21:00
Control # 5: Bragg Creek (km 279)
14:21 - 00:36 (+1) 20:11
Finish Cochrane Husky (km 310)
15:00 - 02:00 (+1) 21:25

I checked in my computer archives, but could not find a copy of my
brevet card. If I recall correctly I scanned/e-mailed it to Don M. at
the time.

I won't be joining you, since I have a 200 km brevet in the Peace this
Saturday. Have a great ride.

Attached is a *.pdf file of my brevet on this route in 2007. Might be
useful for you to build your own brevet card.

You missed a perfect day for completing the Highwood Classic!
I enjoyed this ride a lot, the nicest 300 km ride this year. You could
not ask for better weather or traffic on this route.
I recorded the tour with my GPS: a total of 307 km and 2642 m ascent.
It took me 12 hour 28 min, I took my camel back and 2 water bottles,
which made me go 100 km stages without having to get water or food.
This is the link to the ride: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/13162354

If it does not work paste it into your browser.
