to Alberta Randonneurs
Hi all,

I have been away for a long time doing the work and family thing and
racing in tri/duathlon since 2001. My heart will always be true to
randonneurring and even though my legs are more use to racing, they
will always have memory for the LONG rides!

It has been a long time since I have done a brevet, but I am keen to
ride PBP 2011 as it will mark the 25th anniversary for the Alberta
Randonneurs. My first PBP in 1987 marked the club's inception (aka
Rocky Mountain Randonneurs). It was great to go back in 1991 with more
members. It was also great to ride the Raid of the Pyrenees (and then
tour the Mediterranean coast) prior to PBP 2001. Ed Weymouth was able
to come and endure this tough brevet (and great tour) with me.

As I contemplate the 2011 PBP, I am considering doing the Raid again
(prior to the PBP), but this time in the reverse direction
(Mediterranean to Atlantic). Is anyone keen on the adventure and
challenge?

I have other comments/inquiries also:

1) Is the club interetsed in making up a special 25th anniversary
jersey for 2011?

2) Is anyone intersted in riding the Mountain Madness 200 in July
2010, renaming it the Wayne Galbraith Madness 200 and all meeting in
Banff to ride for the memory of Wayne? Could this become an annual
event? I can't think of a better way to honor Wayne other than
finishing with the grunt up Mt Norquay?

3) I am keen to ride the Fleche. It was a great event in the past.
Finishing in Red Deer would be fine, although it is a bit further to
travel for any Northern interest (Ft McMurray or the Peace guys). Does
someone still have the trophy (President's Cup)?

4) If anyone is intersted, I could get the Canadian Mountain Challenge
1300km going again. It could be set up much like the Raid of the
Pyrenees, with self registration and date - riding with approval - and
getting ACP sanction once receiving the completed brevet card. For
those who never got a chance to ride this challenging mountain course,
it was a ride from Vancouver to Calgary via Hope, Princeton, Osoyoos,
Grand Forks, Castlegar, Salmo, Creston, Cranbrook, Kimberley, Radium,
Banff, Calgary (Canada Olympic Park).

5) Whatever happened to the Mountain series, usually done in the
summer?

Anyways, hope all are well. Looking forward to hearing from you all
and trying to qualify for the 2011 PBP with rides in 2010 and 2011.
