Help Protect Voters on Election Day
Dear ,
It's a well known fact that the larger the voter turn-out, the harder it becomes to rig the vote count. It's also a well known fact that voter intimidation tactics work to suppress the vote, and those most targeted are people of color and young people. With a major party presidential candidate suggesting and clearly condoning these tactics--including violence--the federal government is duty bound to protect voter rights.
We've teamed up with RootsAction and Liberty Tree Foundation to demand action. Join us in calling upon the Department of Justice to protect the right to vote.
With Pledge to Amend candidates in the field and two state ballot measures to be decided on Election Day, Move to Amend has more than our traditional interest in as fair an election as possible under the current conditions.
Please take action--it's as easy as 1,2,3!
- Sign the petition for the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Voting Section to investigate possible violations of federal voting rights laws and intervene where necessary to protect voter rights.
- File an Election Complaint Report online with the Department of Justice reporting the call for voter intimidation as a violation of voting rights or send your request by email or postal mail. (Find address and sample letter here.)
- Share this call to action with your friends and family through social networking and personal email.
Just as the We the People Amendment is necessary to an authentic participatory democracy, so is protecting voter rights. Help protect the vote -- please take action today.
Yours in the democracy movement,
Daniel Lee, George Friday, Jerome Scott, Laura Bonham
