It is our pleasure to invite you to join our Anniversary Webinar Series commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme and 60 years of water sciences at UNESCO. The series, titled “Frontiers of Global Water Science,” will feature distinguished experts from the UNESCO Water Family and our international partners, discussing critical water challenges and innovations.
The sixth webinar in the series will take place on Thursday, 25 September 2025, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. CEST. This webinar will explore the complex relationships between water sustainability, justice, and inequalities in access to water. As global demand for water intensifies, critical questions arise about the ability to meet human and ecological needs with our planet's limited freshwater resources.
Based on ecohydrological and socio-environmental analyses, Professor D'Odorico will highlight the growing pressure of agriculture on global water resources. This session will address the biophysical and social limits to sustainable water management in a context of globalisation, technological progress, and environmental justice.
