Dear colleagues,
we would like to invite to the 8th COSMOS Workshop that will take place in Bologna, Italy, from 29 September to 1 October 2026: https://www.cosmos2026.org/. This international workshop brings together experts and researchers interested in Cosmic-Ray Neutron Sensing (CRNS).
CRNS is a non-invasive technology for detecting water at the land surface over a footprint of several hectares. From the first experiments focused on estimating soil water content at the field scale, the technique has now been integrated into several observation networks. It is currently deployed for monitoring snow water equivalent and serves as a benchmark for land-surface models and remote sensing products. The technology is increasingly promoted to support agricultural water management, improve flood, fire, and erosion prediction, and it also shows potential for detecting biomass changes and space weather signals.
The workshop will provide an opportunity to review the state of the art, share experiences, explore current potentialities, and discuss new frontiers and collaborations.
We are accepting registrations and contributions until August. Please note, however, that early registration closes on 1 June. Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
Thank you and best regards,
Gabriele Baroni (on behalf of the organisation committee)
