Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to invite abstract submissions to our AGU26 session "SY005: Advancing Net Zero Urban Water: Integrated Systems for Urban Water Resilience".
Urban water systems are increasingly affected by climate change, aging infrastructure, urban growth, and uncertainty in conventional water supplies. This session will explore how integrated approaches across natural, built, and social systems can strengthen urban water resilience and support progress toward greater water self-sufficiency.
We welcome contributions on topics including:
  • Centralized, decentralized, and distributed water systems for resilient urban water futures
  • Water treatment technologies, monitoring systems, and retrofit strategies for integrating alternative water sources into existing urban water systems
  • Surface water-groundwater interactions, managed aquifer recharge, and local water availability
  • Governance and policy, public trust and acceptance, equity and environmental justice, and other sociotechnical dimensions of urban water transitions.
I am pleased to be convening this session alongside Courtney Crosson (University of Arizona), Erik Porse (California Institute for Water Resources), Stephanie Pincetl (UCLA), and Sybil Sharvelle (Colorado State University).
The abstract submission deadline is August 5, 2026.
