We are pleased to announce that applications are now open for the 2025–2026 edition of the International Online Course on Water Harvesting, organized by the Water Harvesting Lab at the University of Florence.
This year’s course, titled “Water Harvesting in Sub-Saharan Africa”, focuses on water harvesting as a key strategy for addressing climate change, land degradation, and water scarcity in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA).
The course combines theoretical foundations with practical skills and will enable participants to:
Understand socio-ecological dynamics and water–food security in SSA
Assess the hydrological functioning of water harvesting systems
Plan and design interventions at micro and macro scales
Develop project management and implementation strategies
The programme will include guest lecturers from African universities and international research and development organisations.

Period: End of June – End of September 2026 (4 modules)
Application deadline: 5 June 2026
Format: Fully online (live sessions + recordings available)
Fee: €150 + €16 administrative fee
A limited number of free places are available for candidates from water-scarce countries, as well as for students and staff of the University of Florence.
