I am seeking a highly-motivated postdoctoral researcher to work on a research one-year project on flood inundation estimation from satellite remote sensing observations. The successful applicant will join the Mechanical and Civil Engineering department at the Florida Institute of Technology, Melbourne, FL. The project is funded by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the research work will be carried out in collaboration with the Iowa Flood Center at the University of Iowa and the Earth System Science Interdisciplinary Center at the University of Maryland.

The successful applicant will pursue research focused on developing a framework for quantifying and modeling uncertainty of satellite-based flood inundation estimates. The work will involve generation of flood inundation maps (FIM) from remote sensing observations (e.g. Landsat and Planetscope) and the statistical analysis of the FIMs accuracy and error characteristics. Therefore, preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in remote sensing. Demonstrated skill in using GIS software as well as programming in Python, Matlab, R or similar is highly desirable.

To be considered, please email Prof. Efthymios Nikolopoulos (enikol...@fit.edu) a CV and any other relevant information. Applications will be considered starting on Sep 15, 2021, and the position will remain open until filled.
