The IWRA is pleased to invite submissions for proposals – including papers, special sessions and creative contributions – for its 2nd Islands Water Congress, taking place in Montego Bay, Jamaica, from 9–11 December 2026, under the overarching theme “Resilient Islands: Securing Water for Sustainable Development in a Changing World”.
This 2nd Islands Water Congress will convey a dynamic platform bringing together researchers, practitioners, policymakers, community leaders and creatives committed to advancing sustainable water solutions in island contexts.
Islands face distinct and pressing water challenges — from climate vulnerability and limited freshwater resources to governance, equity and resilience. This Congress offers a unique opportunity to share knowledge, foster collaboration and showcase innovative approaches that respond to these realities.
We warmly welcome contributions in the following categories:
Paper Proposals
Original research aligned with the Congress sub-themes. Selected presentations may be considered for publication in the peer-reviewed IWRA journal Water International.
Special Session Proposals
Propose a 90-minute session or workshop — including panel discussions, interactive formats, or multi-stakeholder dialogues — to share insights and promote collaboration.
Creative Contributions
Innovative approaches to communicating island water challenges are encouraged, including photography, exhibitions, poetry, performance, and immersive experiences.
