Dear Colleagues and Friends,
Cc. Fatma, Mira, Martina, and Luigi

We come to you to drive your attention to the following forthcoming EGU sessions:

The sessions will run during the next EGU General Assembly 2026, which will be held both as an in-person event in Vienna, Austria (3 – 8 May 2026) as well as online.

Our sessions welcome contributions ranging from the understanding of the soil hydrological behaviour and of the mass fluxes, through the soil, in different environments, with particular focus on arid and water—scarce environments and on stress conditions (viz water shortage, compaction, salinization...), to the interaction between soil hydrology, irrigation and sociohydrology, as well as to the design of irrigation systems for sustainable and regenerative agriculture in both arid and non—arid districts and oases, also including the use of non—conventional waters (e.g. water harvesting), managed aquifer recharge systems and rangeland restoration practices.

Given the relevance that water and irrigation have for human and natural ecosystems, we also welcome interdisciplinary contributions involving social sciences and humanities.

Both sessions received the EDI logo. Also, session HS8.3.6 is a PICO session and is co-sponsored by the International Center for Agriculture Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA).

Abstracts may be submitted until Thursday, 15 January 2026, 13:00 CET (detailed abstract submission guidelines here: https://www.egu25.eu/programme/how_to_submit.html).
Pay attention that the Roland Schlich Travel Support scheme deadline is much closer, being it the 1 December 2025, 13:00 CET (detailed support info here: https://www.egu26.eu/authors/financial_support_and_waivers.html#travel-support).

For any question which may arise, please do not hesitate to contact us and the session Coconvenors.

Looking forward to meeting you in Vienna,

Best regards, also on behalf of Fatma, Mira, Martina and Luigi
