I am currently looking for a PhD student to join a project focused on innovative hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using ultra-high-resolution topographic data to improve resilience to extreme events in both rural and urban areas.
The fully funded three-year position is open to candidates from a wide range of backgrounds, particularly those with experience in the physical and computational sciences.
Applications are especially encouraged from students interested in hydrological modeling and the development of computational methods. The ideal candidate will hold a Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.

Main duties and responsibilities include:
· Conduct original research in the area of hydrology and high performance computing.
· Contribute to the preparation and publication of articles in high-impact journals.
· Support broader lab activities, including the co-supervision of MSc students.
· A Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.
· A creative and enthusiastic mindset, with a willingness to learn.
· Self-motivation and a strong sense of scientific curiosity and innovation.
· A strong interest in catchment hydrology and geomorphology.
· Experience in mathematical or numerical modeling and large-scale data analysis.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
· Experience with scientific writing.
