The Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Manitoba invites applications for a full-time tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Civil Engineering  (Position 31682) commencing July 1, 2022, or on a date mutually agreed upon. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
The successful candidate: 1) must hold an undergraduate degree in civil engineering and doctoral degree in civil engineering or related discipline; 2) must be registered or eligible for registration as a member of Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba; 3) will be expected to develop and teach Civil Engineering courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels; 4) will be expected to establish an externally funded and sustainable research program; 5) must foster an inclusive environment of collaboration with colleagues and for the supervision of a diverse group of undergraduate and graduate students, and 6) must possess excellent teamwork, communication, and leadership skills. Duties include research, teaching civil engineering courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, student mentorship and supervision, and professional service to the Department, the Faculty, the University and the community.
We are particularly interested in candidates who complement the existing research expertise in the Department and have a demonstrated record of research and/or publications in geotechnical engineering, specifically in one or more of the following areas: geomechanics, soil mechanics and foundations, soil structure interaction, advanced constitutive modeling of geotechnical materials, and geo-spatial data applications in geotechnical engineering. Experience in the practice of geotechnical engineering will be considered an asset.
