Dear Colleagues,
We hope this email finds you well. We are excited to have our Coastal Hydrology session on again at the upcoming AGU Fall Meeting 2023, which will be held in San Francisco, CA, December 11-15, 2023. We are thrilled to have two esteemed invited speakers who will share their expertise and insights during the session:
Michelle Hummel - University of Texas at Arlington
James Heiss - University of Massachusetts Lowell
These speakers will offer valuable perspectives on the latest advancements in coastal hydrology/hydrogeology research and provide a stimulating environment for follow up discussions. We encourage you to contribute to this session by submitting an abstract that aligns with our theme.
Session Abstract:
Human and natural systems are tightly linked in coastal areas, where hydrologic processes are changing. Studying these processes is important for understanding vulnerability of water resources, improving management capabilities for flood forecasting and risk assessment, water supply planning, water quality, and ecosystem protection and restoration. We welcome submissions that highlight the influence of human activities and natural processes on coastal hydrology/hydrogeology to aquatic nutrient transport, river and estuarine water level dynamics, geomorphology and biogeochemistry. Topics of interest include: flow and exchange of surface and groundwater in coastal watersheds; hydrologic controls on sediment supply and salinity; deltaic ecosystem response to changing hydrologic controls, including sea level rise; impacts of compound extremes, such as hurricane-driven flooding, atmospheric rivers and droughts; and effects of excessive groundwater withdrawals/contamination, and climate change on coastal aquifers.
The deadline for abstract submission is August 2nd, 2023. Please visit the link (https://agu.confex.com/agu/fm23/prelim.cgi/Session/186930) for abstract submission.
This is an excellent opportunity to share your research, network with fellow experts in the field, and contribute to the advancement of coastal hydrology and hydrogeology knowledge. We look forward to your participation and the exciting discussions that will ensue. Should you have any questions or require additional information, please feel free to reach out to us. Hope to see you in San Francisco!
Warm regards,
