Dear Colleagues,
We would like to bring to your attention the International Winter School on Natural Hazard Attribution: Using Past and Present Data, jointly organized by the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee), India, and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, The Netherlands, supported by the XXII INQUA Congress 2027.
Venue: IIT Roorkee, India
Dates: 20–22 January 2027

This Winter School brings together leading experts in hydroclimatology, paleohydrology, geomorphology, and climate science to explore how past and present data can be integrated to understand and attribute natural hazards in a changing climate. Participants will gain hands-on training in paleohydrological reconstruction, natural hazard attribution, climate model evaluation, statistical analysis of extreme events, and open-source tools for hydroclimatic research.
The programme will be led by internationally renowned experts, including Prof. Ankit Agarwal (IIT Roorkee, India), Dr. Willem H.J. Toonen (VU Amsterdam, The Netherlands), and Dr. Paolo Scussolini (VU Amsterdam, The Netherlands), with additional experts to be announced.
