Dear Colleagues,

I am writing to invite you to the 2014 Vienna Catchment Science Symposium. This one-day meeting will be held on Saturday, May 3rd, the day after the EGU meeting in Vienna.

This is a small informal meeting focused around several full-length talks, workshops and a lot of unstructured conversation, as a contrast to the frenzy of 15-minute talks and countless posters at EGU. The overall theme is "Mainstreaming historical hydrology".

Speakers are Jürg Luterbacher (Historical hydroclimatology), Rudolf Brazdil (Historical process hydrology), Rui Perdigao and Andrea Kiss (Historical, stochastic hydrology) and Mariano Barriendos (Historical hydrology and decision making).

The symposium has been modelled after the Berkeley Meeting Jim Kirchner has been organising, and we held similar meetings after EGU in the past years.

Doors will open at 8:30 AM with coffee, breakfast pastries and greetings. The meeting will start at 8:45, featuring ~40 minute talks and extended discussion, with breaks in between for lunch and snacks. In the afternoon we will have small group discussion sessions to allow more in depth discussion of Mainstreaming historical hydrology. The day will finish off with an exchange of group findings, followed by drinks and dinner.

Logistics:  The Meeting will be held in the Kuppelsaal of the Vienna University of Technology (www.tuwien.ac.at). Free food and drinks will be served. To make arrangements we need to know who will attend. Please sign up no later than April 15 by writing an email to Dr. Andrea Kiss

_______  Sign me up, and send me details as they are finalised.  I'll plan to be there May 3rd.

_______  Sounds great, but I'm not sure whether I can make it this year. Keep me on the mailing list and I'll let you know if I can come.

_______  Sounds interesting, but I can't make it this year.  Do keep me on the mailing list for the future, though.

_______  How did I get on your mailing list?  Please take me off.

Thanks, and I look forward to seeing you in Vienna on May 3rd, and/or at EGU the week before.

All the best,

Günter Blöschl
