Multiple PhD, Postdoc, and MS Positions in Hydrology,
Water Resources, and AI/ML at the National Taiwan University, Taiwan
Professor Yu-Li Wang’s research group in the Bioenvironmental
Systems Engineering at the National Taiwan University, is recruiting:
- One
fully funded PhD student (tuition + stipend), starts from Fall
2026 semester
- Two
postdoctoral researchers, beginning between February and June
2026 (flexible start date)
- One
fully funded MS student (tuition + stipend), starts from Fall
2026 semester

Potential Candidate Research Areas of Interest:
- AI/ML
for hydrogeology and earth science
- Inverse
Modeling, Data Assimilation, Data Fusion
- Plant-Soilwater-Groundwater
interactions: infiltration, recharge, dew water formation, flow and
nutrient transport through root zone
- Climate
change impacts on water resources for irrigation and adaptation strategies

Qualifications
Minimum requirements:
- PhD
applicants must meet the University admission minimum standards
- Background
in hydrology, water resources, earth science, geoscience, civil/water
engineering, AI/ML, or data science
- Strong
academic motivation, creativity, and ability to work in a collaborative
research environment
Preferred qualifications (one or more of the following):
- Experience
with hydrological models (Modflow, Hydrus, VSAFT, WRF-Hydro, Noah-MP, etc.)
- Data assimilation
(or Data fusion) model development (Kalman filter, sequential linear
estimator, etc.)
- AI/ML
model development (LSTM, CNN, PINN, XAI, etc.)
- Statistical/machine
learning (e.g., Scikit-learn, PyTorch)
- High-performance
computing (HPC) and Compute Unified Device Architecture (CUDA) applications
